Exploring gamers' crowdsourcing engagement in Pokémon Go communities

Purpose With the increasing popularity of online games like Pokémon Go, a new wave crowdsourcing communities have emerged, allowing gamers to collaborate, communicate and share useful game-related information. This paper aims examine factors that influence gamers' behaviour. Design/methodology/approach A conceptual framework is developed combines DeLone & McLean model, self-determination theory, different levels engagement The survey collected 371 responses were analysed using Covariance Based Structural Equation Modelling (CB-SEM). Findings results show extrinsic intrinsic motivation positively influenced intention. System quality information also confirmed be associated with Furthermore, intention was found content consumption, contribution, creation. Practical implications findings this study are for owners Go other gaming-related platforms in devising tailored strategies increase gamers. Originality/value provides first empirical evidence motivating presents novel insight into by combining diverse theories which offer perspectives more comprehensive understanding phenomenon. Contribution research on intention-behaviour gap modelling three behavioural outcomes (content creation, consumption behaviour) intention, another important contribution study.
